Jacqueline K. Thomas earned her Ph.D. in literature at the University of Texas at Austin in 2007, focusing on the treatment of Aphrodite in ancient, medieval, Romantic, and Modernist literary works. She also studied prehistoric and Ancient Near Eastern art and textiles from an anthropological perspective. These lines of inquiry grew out of her initial interest in anthropological theories that menstruation was the prehistoric foundation of human culture.
